This service is for Builders who want a labour-only price that makes sense.


SubsQS provides experience-backed labour-only pricing for NZ builders and subcontractors who want to increase their win-rate and be awarded more work.


Working from drawings, scope and specification - the scope is measured individually by each item so that realistic labour hour budgets ensure your tender stays competitive - we begin with industry body labour constants that are then tailored to reflect your crews expected productivity based on similar projects.


You supply the gang charge-out rate and receive a labour-only price with clear clarifications & exclusions so your quote has an accurate scope while staying competitive without margin risk.

Send the plans to be reviewed along with the expected submission date. Be sure to include a dot-point list of what your scope should include.


A fee proposal will be sent through within 24 hours.

  1. Detailed Measure

Pricing drawings are labelled and loaded into CostX for the detailed carpentry labour takeoff, before being arranged into sequence-order within the estimate body.

  1. Labour-only Estimate

Each component of your labour-only scope is listed out in order of sequence so that the estimate is able to be read, followed and understood by anyone who picks it up.

  1. Preliminaries Costs

For those including P&G within the labour-only scope - quotes for items such as insurances, access, waste, safety netting, completion cleaning and similar are included in the preliminaries area of the estimate.

  1. Draft Review

Be it at home, cafe or over video, you'll need to find 20-30mins to sit down with us so you are familiar with the estimate and are able to answer any questions the Developer might have for you.

  1. Final Revision

Post catch-up, any final tweaks to productivity hours happen now so that what the estimate contains is reflective of what your crew can achieve on site.

The covering handover letter with estimated cost, documentation used, all tags & clarifications etc are issued along with the estimate in both PDF and Excel.

Any files and emails received along the way have been neatly labelled and are passed back to you for your records.
